How to use it

Enter your booth fee and any other fixed costs for the day (gas, a helper, samples, ice). Then add your market hours and prep hours, and what you want to pay yourself per hour, so the day’s real cost includes your time, not just your cash outlay. Add what you expect to sell to see your profit for the whole day, not just the break-even point.

This tool sticks to fees and hours on purpose. Most vendors sell a table of different items, not one thing at one price, so a single “profit per unit” number does not hold up. Tracking margin item by item across everything you sell is exactly what Traders Till does once it is logging your real sales.

FAQ

Booth break-even, frequently asked

Why does my desired hourly rate matter?

Because your time is not free. If you skip it, “break even” only means the booth fee got covered, while you worked for nothing. Enter market hours plus prep hours and what you want to pay yourself, and that value gets added to what the day needs to earn.

What if I sell more than one kind of product?

Almost everyone does, which is why this tool only works in total dollars, not per-unit profit. Tracking margin item by item across a mixed table of products is a job for Traders Till, not a quick calculator.

Should I count gas and help as fixed costs?

Yes, if you pay them for that specific market day. Add each as its own row so you can see exactly what the day actually costs you before a single sale.

How is this different from a break-even for my whole business?

This is per market day, not per month or year. It answers “did today’s booth pay for itself, including my time,” which is exactly the question that decides whether you go back to a given market.

Know before you pack the car.

Traders Till logs your booth fees and per-market costs automatically, so every market’s break-even and profit recompute from your real sales.
